In 1983, the real estate landscape was a tentative one: most of the major players had gone under, sold out, or merged to stay alive.  The landscape was bleak, but it did not deter Kurt Dalbey and John Tachouet.  On January 16, 1984, The Equity Group, Inc. Realtors opened its doors with a total of six agents and less than 1,000 square feet of office space.

Over the next 16 years, a recovering economy, rapid population growth, and careful planning saw huge gains for the organization.  Jim Homolka joined the team, and The Equity Group Realtors expanded, adding ten offices throughout the Portland Metro and SW Washington, and all strategically placed to better serve our agents and community.

On December 11, 2000, The Equity Group Realtors formed a partnership with RE/MAX, LLC to become RE/MAX Equity Group.  Our partnership with RE/MAX has given our agents tremendous access to technology and resources designed to enhance the real estate buying and selling business.

Our over 40 year history is a testament to the strength of our people, beliefs, and systems.  We've survived and thrived through mortgage crises, a pandemic, housing shortages, and more.  Our agents are first-rate, full-time REALTORS and make RE/MAX Equity Group one of the best in the business.

The RE/MAX Equity Group Foundation is our way of giving back to the communities we serve.  Comprised entirely of agents, our Foundation members meet regularly to vote on proposals from local organizations seeking help.
